Day 1: #opentowork
Today, I’m announcing the most important career project I’ve ever worked on: #100DaysToANewJob
Over the course of the next few months, I’m going to turn my #jobsearch into a challenge. Since being part of the company #layoffs at Thumbtack in mid-December, I’ve applied to over 30 executive and corporate #communications jobs, but have heard barely a peep from recruiters, even when I’ve had a network connection inside the company. So, time to change my approach.
Instead of waiting for the right job to open up, I’m going to focus more on #careeragency, or what I can control and be proactive about:
➡️ start from scratch with my resume
➡️ build a career marketing plan
➡️ assemble an actual work portfolio
➡️ talk to #careersearch experts,
➡️ identify target companies,
➡️ line up coffees and networking 1:1s,
And many more strategies outside of the same old shotgun job application approach.
AND, I’m going to document it all here on LinkedIn, as a way of being accountable to myself, but also (hopefully) offer some perspective and value to other jobseekers. Can one really find a dream job or at least have an offer within 100 days? Let’s find out. That will take us from today, January 25, to May 5, which just happens to be my younger daughter’s first birthday (Hi Ella!).
